How to Find the Lion That Has Swallowed You?

2025

We all have a shadow, or does the shadow have us? Carl Jung turned this question into a riddle when he asked: “How do you find a lion that has swallowed you?”

The project was a systematic facing, mapping and healing of shadows over 10 month period. Through automatic drawing, I entered memories connected to fear, shame, guilt, and grief, experiencing the transformation of pain into freedom through 144 drawings. The drawings were installed inside a Fibonacci sequence corridor I built from leftover wood. Arranged as a linear path I built the inner spiral of healing into a timeline that could be walked step by step. Alongside the drawings, colorful weawing was made as a symbol of new growth, life emerging from the fertile ground of darkness and suffering. The act of weaving marked the beginning of regeneration, an updated living fabric of life slowly forming where pain had once been concentrated. The installation took place in a former sporting goods store called “Dynamo.” Dynamo, in its essence, is a mechanism that transforms motion into light, a reminder that inner movement creates its own power.

The project was exhibited from 17.03.2025 -19.04.2025 at The 9th Artishok Biennial
